Photos of a valve purchased from Norton Sales on July 23, 2013.
Sales person from Norton Sales thought it might be from an Atlas missile, but wasn't sure.
Writing on the tag attached to the valve states...
"Removed from 113D"
"Per R1079-53"
"GMA- ECPMA2-41"
If this is from an Atlas and if it was removed from Atlas 113D, then that is the same Atlas that launched Wally Schirra on his Mercury Sigma 7 mission in October 3, 1962.
The actuator on the valve with the Rocketdyne ID plaque states...
Name "Fuel Fill and Check"
Part No. " 302390 "A" "
"850" P.S.I.
" 032V" Ser. No.
Some of the beginnings of the number on the Part No. and Ser. No. have been damaged and I have not been able to read them.
I would like to know if this part is really from an Atlas and if it was, why it was removed from 113-D. Please e-mail me if you have any information.
